The working principle of Lubricating Oil Pump

The function of the oil pump in the lubrication system: the function of the oil pump is to increase the oil to a certain pressure and forcibly press it to the moving surfaces of the engine parts. The oil pump structure can be divided into two types: gear type and rotor type. Gear oil pump is divided into internal gear type and external gear type, the latter is generally called gear oil pump.

Gear type oil pump is characterized by reliable operation, simple structure, convenient manufacture and high pump oil pressure, so it is widely used.

When the engine is working, the driving gear on the camshaft drives the transmission gear of the oil pump, so that the driving gear fixed on the driving gear shaft rotates, thereby driving the driven gear to rotate in the opposite direction, and the oil is transferred from the oil inlet cavity along the backlash. It is sent to the oil outlet chamber with the pump wall. In this way, a low pressure is formed at the oil inlet cavity to generate suction, and the oil in the oil pan is sucked into the oil cavity. Due to the continuous rotation of the main and driven gears, the oil is continuously pressed to the required parts.
