The role of the temperature sensor

The role of the temperature sensor is to measure the temperature of the gas entering the intake manifold. In the volume flow type intake system, the electronic control unit (ECU) corrects the fuel injection amount according to the intake air temperature to obtain the best air-fuel ratio.

How temperature sensors work

The structure of the temperature sensor is shown in the figure below, which is mainly composed of a plastic shell, a waterproof socket, a gasket, and a thermistor. The temperature sensor uses a negative temperature coefficient thermistor as the detection element. In order to accurately measure the intake air temperature, it is usually protected by a plastic casing to prevent the temperature of the installation site from affecting the working accuracy of the sensor.
